Ten examples were available at a price of $150,000 each. All were finished in a unique shade of black especially created for the car, complemented by a black mohair convertible roof and light grey Connolly hide interior piped black. To replace the traditional wood veneers for the instruments, centre console and doors tops, the Neiman Marcus DB7 has carbon fibre panels. The wheels are finished in bright chrome as is the wire mesh grille.
As well as the car, owners received a set of matching black luggage by Swaine Adeney Brigg of London and a monogrammed black car cover. The car was only available to the US market and with left hand drive. With only ten built, it is one of the rarest variants of the DB7 i6 cars.
For Christmas 2013, Nieman Marcus also offered another unique limited edition based on the Vanquish Volante
The photos below are mainly from a DB7 i6 GTS II Volante which illustrate some of the more detailed modifications of the package including colour coded window quarters and scuttle panel and the groove in the side rubbing strip. There were only three DB7 i6 Volantes converted to GTS II specification.
GTS II Specifications
These FLM cars retained the distinctive DB6 Kamm tail above the tailgate and unlike the Radford cars, had a split tailgate where the glass panel was hinged upwards, and the tail panel dropped down. Sadly, the side view of the FLM cars is spoiled by clumsy window frames and a C pillar that was obviously then copied on the 1970’s Austin Allegro Estate.
The car illustrated here was commissioned by the racing driver, Innes Ireland (and later BRDC President) as his daily driver and as of November 2013, was on sale by Aston Martin Works. It is finished in its original, extremely attractive colour scheme of Versuvio Silver, complemented beautifully by the sumptuous deep Claret Connolly Hide interior with matching Wilton carpets. It was restored by Works Service in the late 1980’s and features Vantage spec engine with triple Weber carbs and a ZF 5 speed manual gearbox. Another DB6 Shooting Brake is privately owned in France. The whereabouts of the third mystery FLM shooting brake is unknown.
In addition to two or three DB6 Shooting Brakes, FML Panelcraft also built the single example of the DBS Shooting Brake.
In all, six cars were built and feature the following specification
Of the six cars, two were coupes (one 5 speed manual, one auto) and the remaining four were Volantes (one 5 speed manual, three auto)
Since all examples are all in the US, it is very unlikely that I’ll have an opportunity to photograph the Beverly Hills. So I have borrowed the pictures of the Volante here from the website of US car dealer, Ron Susser, who was selling one of these cars. The pictures of the Coupe were provided by a great friend of mine and fellow AMOC member, Robin.
The photographs of the Volante are copyright Ron Susser and were found by AMOC member, Jon H – many thanks Jon. Also thanks to AMOC member, Robin, for his pictures and information of the unique manual coupe
In total, 19 examples were built which included 10 Volantes – all right hand drive and all destined for the UK market. Each car was individually numbered on the sill plates, together with the first owners name.
Particulars of the unique and fully loaded specification of the cars are listed below
Customers took delivery of their cars at a special handover ceremony held at Blenheim Palace and were even transported to the venue by especially chartered helicopters.
