DBX and AM8 derivatives

(2019 - date)

Back in 2014, it has been said that on only his forth day as CEO, Dr Andy Palmer decided that what AML really needed was an SUV. Purists were maybe alarmed but that's nothing new, remember the fuss caused by the Cygnet. The plan wasn't secret, far from it and the DBX Concept was shown at the 2015 Geneva Show. Didn't matter that the car bore absolutely no relation to the final production car, it was a tangible sign of intent.

Videos of the disguised prototypes in a Welsh forest were posted by AML on social media and during 2019, customers were invited to special previews and orders flooded in. The car was formally launched at the Beijing Show in November 2019 with China expected to be the biggest market for the car. Sadly a few months after Dr Palmer left AML, the first proper proper production DBX came off the St Athan production line in July 2020. This was a tremendous achievement as the UK was just getting back on it’s feet after the first wave of the Covid pandenic. Further derivatives of the DBX are much anticipated. The DBX has, just as Dr Palmer anticipated, became one of a growing line of cars that have saved Aston Martin.
