Taken from the name of Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire. The founders of Aston Martin, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford had great success in hillclimbing before the Great War and decided to use the name for their new car. An added advantage is that it begins with ‘A’ so the model appears very near the top of any alphabetical list of cars.
