VH3 – DBS and Vanquish
The DBS was announced in January 2006, although only a design sketch was shown and the announcement that James Bond would be driving the car in the upcoming film, Casino Royale. In order to avoid damaging spy shots, photographs of the car were released in May 2006 with the film released in November of the same year. Yet there was no sign of the car in the showroom. Perhaps AML just wanted to properly phase out the V12 Vanquish before offering a new 'hero' car. Finally in the summer of 2007, AML used the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, CA to showcase the new car. The 'new' Vanquish was announced formally on the 20th June 2012 as the flagship or 'halo car' of the 'regular' AM car range, as opposed to the super exclusive cars such as the One-77 and V12 Zagato. The Vanquish, which replaces the outgoing DBS and is described as the ultimate Super Grand Tourer.
