In spring 2014, a few spy photos were circulated on the net showing something quite surprising and unexpected. A large camouflaged saloon car was seen testing on the roads around the Gaydon facility and the belief was that the car was a future Lagonda. A couple of months later, AML formally announced that a new Lagonda, known internally as ‘Project Comet’, would be returning to the range with a super-exclusive, super-expensive, super-sports saloon. The strictly limited edition Taraf was unveiled in the Middle East during late 2014 and shown publically at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show

The new Lagonda saloon is being built as a limited series during 2015/2016 in the same facility that was used to build the One-77. Initially,  AML only offered the new car to invited customers from the Middle East although now available for delivery almost worldwide. 

Once Taraf production ends, the next Lagonda is unlikely to see production until the end of the decade. In all likelihood it will be a 4 door with strong links to the 2015 DBX concept, probably built in far greater numbers than any Lagonda in history in the new plant is St Athen, South Wales.
