The first and still the best. The V8 Vantage was the halo Aston Martin for 12 years yet less than one a week were built. It may have been considered a ‘dinosaur’, especially towards the late 1980’s, yet the Vantage could easily keep up with fancy mid engined Italian contemporaries. In 1977, this ageing DBSV8 defied all the odds to compete and finish the greatest endurance racing event, the 24 hours of Le Mans. RHAM/1 was built by Robin Hamilton, a midlands Aston Martin dealer, who went on to develop the 1980’s Nimrod. I have added loads of new images of RHAM/1 today.
