DBS Superleggera 59 Special Edition

(2019 - 2020) for Aston Martin Cambridge by 'Q

The 59 Special Edition was arguably the boldest bespoke Aston Martin ever commissioned by a dealer. Fortunately the dealer was Aston Martin Cambridge who had developed quite a track record of such cars starting way back with the ‘ V8 Vantage S Blade’s Edition. Why was it bold? The run of Blades cars was only 5 long and the Vantage was one of the least expensive cars in the range. The 59 Special Edition run was intended to be 24 cars, all top of the range DBS Superleggeras with a price tag of £325,000 each. The edition was specifically created for the 60th anniversary of the famous 1 / 2 finish of the 1959 race by the Aston Martin DBR1.

The car was announced in November 2018 with the intention that all cars would be completed and sold before the following June. The dramatic handover ceremony on the start line of the Le Mans circuit before the 2019 running of the classic endurance race was an outstanding success.

If I’ve done my maths right, there have been three previous Le Mans models from Aston Martin. The 1932 1.5 litre Le Mans, the 1999 V8 V8 Vantage Le Mans and the 2008 DB9 LM.
