Aston Martin Lagonda were so impressed with the new coachwork, it was adopted for the upcoming 3.0 litre model. As the new Tickford body was so much heavier, the extra power from the 3.0 litre engine was key as otherwise the newer 3 litre would have been slower than the outgoing 2.6 litre model.

Although the 2.6 litre Lagonda had only been on sale for a few years, by 1953, sales had dwindled and cars remained unsold as the styling had rapidly become old fashioned. The London Distributor, Brooklands of Bond Street saw an opportunity and purchased the last 16 Mark II 2.6 litre cars with the intention of making them more saleable. The cars were sent to Tickford, the coach builders in Newport Pagnell where they received new more modern looking coachwork.
