This is a particularly interesting Aston Martin. It started life as an early DB2 Drophead Coupe; so early, it had the triple grill and washboard side vents as used on the first 50 cars. However following some time being driven in Spain on their rather bumpy roads in the mid to late 1950s, the body started to deteriorate. So the owner reputedly approved the Spanish coach builder, Pedro Serra, to update the coachwork. It has been said that the inspiration was the Ferrari 250GT Cabriolet by Pininfarina, although the resulting car still retains a strong Aston Martin family resemblance. The car has been unseen for decades until it was offered for sale at the RM Sotheby’s auction in London during November 2024.
