Glossary of Aston Martin Terms

If you’re new the the fascinating world of Aston Martins, this this glossary may help you. Words like ‘superleggera’ ‘kamm tail’ and ‘cosmetic’ often cause confusion so this section is here to demystify things a little. I have tried to include as many specialised Aston Martin related words as possible plus some others which have caused confusion to visitors in the past. Believed to be the project number for the DBS Volante.

Carrozzeria Alfredo Vignale

The company of Carrozzeria Vignale started in 1948 and made coachwork for the likes of Ferrari, Maserati and Lancia often to the designs of Giovanni Michelotti. Vignale also created a pair of unique coach built DB2/4’s in the mid 1950’s. Later the company was acquired by Ford who then used the name on the 1993 Lagonda Vignale.
