(2018)

It isn't uncommon for car magazines to show photographs of disguised upcoming models, usually to the disgust of the manufacturer. Odd but exciting that Aston Martin has issued images of a lightly disguised engineering car 18 months before the car is officially unveiled. The production DB11 Volante is due in Spring 2018 and the release of photos is alongside an addition to the company website inviting expressions of interest.

So far as we know, the Volante will be powered by the same 5.2 litre twin turbocharged V12 as already seen in the coupe but it is also possible that the AMG V8 which will be fitted to the upcoming V8 Vantage could be offered as an option. Interestingly, the photos released didn’t show the front of the car. Could the Volante have a face different to the coupe?

The aluminium-bodied DB11 Volante will probably be a little heavier than the coupé as the chassis will need to be strengthened to replace the rigidity of the roof. According to AML, the Volante should still match the performance of the coupe with a 0-62 mph time of 3.9 seconds

When launched in Spring 2018, the  DB11 Volante will be offered at a price of around £155,000, £10,000 more than the coupe.
